Solvent dyes are named because they can be dissolved in various organic solvents. Solvent dyes are widely used and closely related to people’s life. Solvent dyes are mainly used for fuel oil coloration, paraffin coloration, and a large number of dyes are used for plastics, organic glass and synthetic fiber slurry coloration (most of which are prepared into color master batch). Among solvent dyes, some varieties have strong fluorescence, which can be used as fluorescent dyes or fluorescent pigments to make color fluorescent resins, color fluorescent coatings, and also can be used in laser technology, solar collectors, drug tracing, chemical and biochemical analysis, metal scratch and other high-tech fields. It is closely related to our daily life, such as paint, ink, rubber, aluminum products, ink, wooden furniture, shoe polish, etc.
Solvent dyes can be divided into two categories according to their solubility in different solvents, one is alcohol-soluble dyes, the other is oil-soluble dyes. But it is mainly oil-soluble dyes, so solvent dyes are customarily called oil-soluble dyes.
